Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid Odyssean Edition: Large touring car

Bentley has been adding the Flying Spur Hybrid to its model portfolio. The Odyssean Edition is particularly classy when it comes to being partially electric.

Now that the Bentayga Hybrid has undergone its facelift, many Bentley fans are already looking forward to the much more powerful hybrid version of the Flying Spur luxury sedan. Whether everyone can come to terms with the fact that it is only powered by a six-cylinder remains to be seen. But after all, thanks to a more powerful combustion engine, instead of the 330 kW / 449 PS / 700 Nm of the Bentayga Hybrid, there is now 400 kW / 544 PS / 750 Nm. The 416 PS strong V6 turbo combustion engine is supported by the well-known 100 kW / 136 PS / 400 Nm electric motor that is installed in the transmission tunnel. From a standstill, the 5.20 meter long all-wheel drive accelerates in 4.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 285 km / h. The standard consumption is around two liters of super per hundred kilometers. The competitor from the Mercedes S-Class, Audi A8 or BMW 7 Series – all of which are also available as hybrid versions – can only cover a manageable range of 40 kilometers purely electrically, however, as the battery capacity is 14.1 kWh. The total range of the combustion engine and electric motor, however, at around 700 kilometers, is almost the level of a diesel model.

For Bentley, however, the Odyssean Edition should not only be the entry point to a new sustainability in terms of propulsion. Besides Rolls-Royce, no other brand is so synonymous with the finest woods and the most expensive leather in the interior. The Odyssean Edition doesn’t do without this either, but with tweed and wool, at least on the back of the seats, it brings completely new materials that create a different atmosphere inside. The special precious wood, together with the eco-leather, creates a unique atmosphere inside, which the inclined customer has to pay for. The price of the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid Odyssean Edition should be well over 200,000 euros.

Like its competitors, the particularly exclusive Flying Spur with its limited edition of 300 vehicles inside offers not only limitless luxury and every imaginable comfort, but also various driving modes such as purely electric, hybrid or maintaining the battery level. It takes up to two and a half hours to charge the battery pack in the underbody of the cargo area. Visually, the luxury British model with plug differs from its pure combustion brothers with eight and twelve cylinders only through the second fuel filler flap and the hybrid logos that can be added on request. Can he build on their success? It looks pretty promising.
