New: Maxus T90 EV: power on the tailgate

In the USA, the Ford F-150 Lightning, the best-selling pick-up of all time, has also been available as an electric version for almost a year. With the Maxus T90 EV, the first pick-up with a plug is now also being launched in Europe.

Maxus should hardly be a name to most drivers. The Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer belongs to the powerful SAIC Group and has been selling pick-ups and electric vans such as the eDeliver 3 or the eDeliver 9 in Europe for a long time – primarily for tradespeople. Now, with the T90, the first vehicle with an open loading area is also coming to us. The lithium-iron-phosphate battery with a capacity of 89 kWh from the eDeliver 9 is less surprising than the fact that the electric Maxus T90 only has rear-wheel drive, at least initially. An all-wheel drive variant is to follow next year. A 133 kW / 177 hp electric motor works on the rear axle, which should achieve a maximum range of 330 kilometers. The driver can switch between three different driving modes (Normal, Sport, Eco).

The battery pack in the underbody is charged from 20 to 80 percent in around 45 minutes at a DC rapid charging station. Alternatively, the 5.37 meter long pick-up can be connected to the wall box during operation and charged in three phases. The Maxus T90 EV, which costs at least 54,990 euros, offers space for five people or luggage with its crew cab. On the 1.49 meter long and 1.51 meter wide loading area, larger items can also be transported without any problems. If the payload of 925 kilograms is not enough, the T90 EV offers a towing capacity of 1,000 kilograms, albeit a narrow one on the right. “The new Maxus T90 EV proves that high payloads and alternative drives are by no means mutually exclusive. We are leading the way with Europe’s first battery-electric pick-up and are shaking up the vehicle segment. In doing so, we are also laying the foundation for the further growth of our brand in Germany and Europe,” says Karsten Dornheim, Brand Manager Maxus.

As standard, the T90 EV offers, among other things, 17-inch aluminum rims, step strips, parking aid / reversing camera, LED headlights and a loading area protection that protects the flatbed from damage. Inside there is a 10.25 inch touch screen, Bluetooth and Apple Carplay. If you are not enthusiastic about the neutral white finish, you can also get the Maxus T90 EV in blue, black or gray metallic paint for an additional charge of 650 euros. More extras? none. In addition to a five-year vehicle guarantee of up to 100,000 kilometers, the Chinese commercial vehicle brand gives up to eight years and 160,000 kilometers on the battery pack.
