Experts of the online car check service “Avtoteka” conducted a study and found out in which regions of Russia cars are most often stolen.
As TASS reports on December 16, citing a study of the service, the list of regions with relatively high rates of hijacking includes Moscow and the Moscow region, the Chechen Republic, Kursk, Irkutsk, Rostov, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod and Leningrad regions, as well as Crimea, Stavropol Territory, and Saint Petersburg. In these regions, the share of cars for which theft was reported exceeds 0.08%.
The list of regions with relatively low values for theft includes Altai Krai, Bashkortostan, Mordovia, Vologda Oblast, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Tver Oblast, Ryazan Oblast, Tula Oblast, Lipetsk Oblast, North Ossetia, Astrakhan, Kostroma and Kaliningrad Oblasts. The value of the relative share of cars that have been hijacked here does not exceed 0.03%.
On October 14, the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate gave drivers advice on how to secure their car from theft. So, the traffic police recommends equipping the car with an alarm. In this case, you should pay attention to the mode of its operation in order to avoid cases of scanning.
In addition, you should leave your car in a guarded parking lot, in a garage, as well as in the most illuminated and visible places in courtyard and street areas.
The traffic police also advised not to trust unauthorized persons to drive the car, and also to insure the car.
