Heinzel Group buys Steyrermühl paper mill

The Heinzel Group, which produces paper in Pöls, Laakirchen and Raubling, has signed a purchase agreement with UPM for the takeover of UPM Kymmene Austria and its subsidiary in Steyrermühl. Company boss Sebastian Heinzel would like to turn Laakirchen and Steyrermühl into a center for sustainable packaging and renewable energies. The conversion is scheduled to take place on January 1, 2024. By then it should also be clear whether and how the second paper machine, which was shut down in 2017, will be reactivated. The company takeover affects 400 employees in Steyrermühl.

Market pulp, packaging and magazine paper are produced at four locations in Europe. The group trades in pulp, recovered paper, paper and packaging paper worldwide.
