The case that ended in a fine for Apple
The FAS determined in August 2020 that Apple had abused its dominant position and issued a directive requiring Apple to remove the provisions that gave you the right to reject third-party applications from your App Store.
This measure arose from a complaint of the cybersecurity company Kaspersky Labwhich had said that a new version of its Safe Kids app had been rejected by Apple’s operating system.
“Apple has paid a antitrust fine of 906 million rublessaid the FAS in a release on his Telegram channel. The well-known technology company had appealed the decision at various stages, but was unsuccessful and finally complied with the order.
Background
Previously, the US tech giant, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment on this case, had already responded “respectfully disagree” to a FAS ruling regarding the distribution of Apple applications through its iOS operating system, which would have given its own products a competitive advantage.
In a separate case, the FAS said in January that it had fined to Apple with some US$17.4 million for allegedly forcing Russian developers to use Apple payment services with the iOS App Store.
