the meeting at Work failed and the measures of force could return

The Banking Association (AB), led by the national deputy of the Frente de Todos (FdT) Sergio Palazzowarned that the union will resume the fight plan from Monday, in response to the failure of the parity negotiation with the business chambers of the sector this Tuesday at the Ministry of Labor.

In a statement signed by the National General Secretariat, the AB maintained that for now “an agreement could not be reached in Labor that fully satisfies the needs of bank workers” and asserted that “The situation is untenable.”

“About to expire the mandatory conciliation ordered last February by the labor portfolio, the situation is unsustainable. The Abappra chamber is the only one that for the moment made a salary proposal and continues to work on it. The other private entities (ABE, ABA and Adeba ) continue to delay and hinder an agreement,” he said.

The union, which already carried out on February 23 a 24 hour national strikehighlighted the efforts to unblock the conflict by the Ministers of Economy and Labor, Sergio Massa and Raquel Olmos, and maintained that “It seems that the private sector does not care about the salary situation of the workers, but only to continue generating more and more profits.”

“Private chambers, especially international banks, must urgently reconsider and distribute their high profitability, obtained mostly speculatively, with almost zero capital risk and protected by Central Bank (BCRA) resolutions. They do not understand the times or just claims,” the union added.

Palazzo and the Press Secretary, Claudio Bustelo, added that the Bank demands “an immediate salary increase and compensation that helps to bear the weight of the Income Tax.”

In addition, they accused the cameras of “not offering solutions or concrete proposals after more than three months of negotiations”, for which they blamed the businessmen for putting “social peace” at serious risk.

“After the obligatory conciliation is concluded and, if there are no satisfactory answers, the union will declare itself free of action, will resume union measures and deepen the fight plan starting next Monday,” the leaders concluded.

Last Friday, the Association of Public and Private Banks of the Argentine Republic (Abappra) proposed “granting an extraordinary sum for one time of a non-remunerative nature, as salary compensation for Income Tax.”

“Thus, the amounts offered range from a scale of $12,500 to $136,500, to be paid 50% in May and the remaining 50% in September 2023. The chamber clarifies that this extraordinary bonus will not be applicable to banking entities that currently reimburse their workers for said tribute,” the union said on that occasion.

On the other hand, on that occasion the private chambers (ABA, Adeba and ABE) only ratified the salary proposal presented on February 16 and expressed that they would analyze Abappra’s offer and the BCRA took note of all the proposals.

The union recalled after that meeting that the workers “go through the third month without receiving a salary increase and they have not received the retroactive corresponding to the year 2022.”

“For all that has been expressed, we reject the proposals made by all the banking chambers, understanding that they are insufficient and that they are not adjusted to current times, nor to our just claims,” the AB stated before today’s meeting, which also failed .
