Sergio Massa announced the intervention of Edesur for 180 days

The Government announced this Monday the intervention of Edesur for 180 days as a result of the multiple supply cuts that affected thousands of users in recent weeks.

The news was released by the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massathrough a message that was transmitted via the web by the Palacio de Hacienda.

Massa announced that the controller in charge of the electricity distributor will be the current mayor of Avellaneda and former Minister of Housing and Habitat, Jorge Ferraresi.

“We have instructed the ENRE to proceed with the 180-day intervention of the Edesur company for the purposes of monitoring compliance with the works and, above all, compliance in improving the service that the company must have,” Massa explained.

In this regard, he said: “We understand that situations like the ones we had to live and thousands of Argentines had to live during the last 15 days cannot be tolerated anymore.”

“This intervention for 180 days, which will have the purpose of supervising, controlling and, in some way, monitoring the execution of the works for the improvement of the service, will be carried out by the engineer Jorge Ferraresiwho has enormous management capacity and experience in the energy sector,” he announced.

On the other hand, the Tigrense explained: “We have made the decision to execute the $2,700 million sentence, which implies a mechanism for the company to return to all users of the service the fines that, in some way, the State has apply and whose central purpose is the return of the service not provided by the company to the users”.

During the announcement, the minister was flanked by the Secretary of Energy of the Nation, Flavia Royón. The official denounced “non-compliance” by Edesur, as well as lack of maintenance and service works.
