Not old news: a study shows that many people over 50 are surprisingly open to changing jobs and developing their careers. But companies have to do something to attract these experienced people.
For many employers, the fight against the shortage of skilled workers means, above all, recruiting young talent. According to a recent study, the recruiting departments are criminally neglecting another important group: those over 50 who are willing to make a change and have experience and competence. “People are out and about here who are anything but old-fashioned – quite the opposite,” says Nils Wagener, head of the HR marketing agency Königsteiner. The 50+ year olds are often not only efficient and motivated – but also much more willing to change than commonly assumed.
