The operating result (EBIT) improved from minus 18.6 million euros in the same quarter of the previous year to minus 4.9 million euros, the loss for the period fell from 15.7 to 10.7 million euros, as the company announced on Tuesday.

Despite a serious cyber attack in February, the fire brigade equipment supplier increased sales in the first three months of 2023 from 176.7 million to 191.7 million euros. “There were locations that continued to produce. Other areas were more severely affected,” said Rosenbauer CEO Sebastian Wolf at the balance sheet press conference in April. According to Rosenbauer, the tense availability of chassis has gradually eased and allows for more deliveries.

The company employed 4,141 people at the end of March, compared to 4,154 at the end of March 2022. In the first quarter of 2023, Rosenbauer recorded incoming orders of 293.3 million euros (prior-year period: 263.1 million euros). The order backlog has thus continued to grow and amounted to around EUR 1.61 billion at the end of the first quarter (March 31, 2022: EUR 1.24 billion). The fire brigade industry’s order books are “full, so that the industry can generally expect sales growth again in 2023”, the domestic fire brigade supplier expects. However, the international supply chains still need to be relaxed and material costs stabilized.

Assuming a further improvement in the provision of truck chassis, the Rosenbauer Group Executive Board expects sales of over 1 billion euros for 2023. The EBIT margin should improve by around 4 percentage points compared to the previous year.
