Volkswagen: Cake toss and naked protest at VW shareholders’ meeting (video)

Watch the video: Careful, cake! Naked protest at VW shareholders’ meeting.

STORY: Cake toss during the VW Annual General Meeting in Berlin on Wednesday. The target of the attack was Hans Dieter Pötsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG and CEO of Porsche SE. Human rights groups and climate activists had repeatedly disturbed the shareholders’ meeting, interrupting a speech by VW CEO Oliver Blume and holding up banners with the inscription, for example: “End Uyghur forced labor at VW”. The demonstrators were led out of the hall by members of a security service, including a bare-breasted demonstrator. Volkswagen has a plant in the Chinese Uyghur province of Xinjiang, which has been accused of crimes against humanity. VW has repeatedly stated that it is not involved in human rights abuses, including against the Uyghur ethnic minority. Demonstrations also took place in front of the City-Cube in Berlin, where the meeting took place.
