As of the first week of January, the AFIP enabled the submission of requests for refund of income tax perceptions (including personal property tax perceptions) for taxpayers who during the year 2022 made purchases of foreign currency and/or or made purchases abroad with credit and debit cards.
Only so far this year, the collecting agency increased the amount returned by almost 60% in relation to all of 2022. In addition, it benefited 40% of taxpayers in relation to the same period.
General Resolution No. 4815 establishes an income tax and personal property tax collection system for foreign currency purchase operations. The measure came into effect on September 16, 2020.
The regulations establish that when the advances made by an individual exceed the amount corresponding to income taxes and taxes on personal assets, the excess will be refunded. This refund is applicable to those who are not taxpayers of personal income or property tax.
Dollar card: how to apply for a refund?
Subjects authorized to request refunds must enter, with a tax code level 2 or higher, the “Refund of perceptions” service. Within this service they will be able to view and select the collections for the monthly period that were made and are reported by the collection agent.
In the event that there were unreported perceptions, the system will allow their manual incorporation. In these cases, the taxpayer must have all the supporting documentation that supports such request, which may be requested for verification.
