INDEC will announce how much is needed to not be poor or destitute

INDEC will disseminate its monthly valuation of the basic food baskets (CBA) and total baskets (CBT), for the month of April.

The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) will announce this afternoon its monthly valuation of the basic food baskets (CBA) and total (CBT)corresponding to last April, which establish the income floors so as not to fall into the poverty nor in the indigence.

In addition, it is a piece of information that gains additional importance due to the fact that in the segmentation criteria for subsidies for public service tariffs, users with incomes greater than 3.5 times the CBT are excluded from the benefit.

Last Friday, INDEC released the inflation in April that rose 8.4% per monthdriven by the food and beverage items, along with clothing and footwear, with which retail inflation reached 32% in the first four-month period of the year and 108.8% in the last 12 months.

Last Monday the measurement carried out by the Buenos Aires General Directorate of Statistics and Censuses of the basic baskets was known, and it showed that a family of four members living in the city of Buenos Aires needed to receive income of at least $119,742 in April, 08 to not be considered in a situation of indigence, $208,568.76 to not be included in poverty and $320,278.95 to be considered middle class.

In this way, the expenses of the Basic Food Basket (CBA), which mark the limit of indigence, had an increase of 11.04% last month, while the accumulated in twelve months reached 129.53%.

In the case of the Total Basic Basket (CBT), which establishes the poverty ceiling, the monthly increase was 9.06% and the interannual increase of 118.93%, while the Total Basket (TC), which in different proportions delimits the fragile middle sector, the middle class and the wealthy sectors, rose 8.97% in the month and 117.67% in relation to April 2022.

The amounts indicated do not include the payment of housing rent or common expenses, as they are not considered consumption expenses.
