With an important Argentine participation, a new Vinexpo Asia fair will be held in Singapore

Numerous Argentine wineries will participate from May 23 to 25 in Singapore at Vinexpo Asia, one of the most important wine and spirits fairs on the continent and the world.

“Argentina has to resume its promotion agenda in Asia,” said Magdalena Pesce, CEO of Wines of Argentina (WofA), the entity responsible for promoting Argentine wine in the world.

According to Pesce, “with the end of the pandemic and the restrictions to go out, both in China and South Korea and Singapore (important countries for the marketing of wine), the confidence of consumers is on the rise, along with a much more positive towards drinking in bars and restaurants.

“Although today the local context is very challenging, we must redouble our efforts to promote Argentine wine in Asia since the growth potential we have there is great,” he completed.

On May 23, a sustainability panel organized by the Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR) will take place, which will try to answer why sustainability is no longer an option but a necessity for the future of business in the wine industry.

WofA will present the various lines of action of “Sustenta-Vitis”, a comprehensive sustainability program for Argentine Wine that is being implemented by AL-Invest Verde, with funds from the European Union.

SWR is an independent coalition with global reach that seeks to amalgamate the world wine community and generate dialogue, collaboration and consensus on sustainability issues, of which WofA has been a member since 2022.

With 25 years of presence in the region and after the stoppage due to the pandemic, Vinexpo Asia will be held this time in Singapore, where more than a thousand producers from 35 countries will receive 8,000 professional visitors from all over Asia.

The participation of Argentina in Vinexpo Asia has the collaboration of the Argentine Embassy in Singapore, the Government of Mendoza and ProMendoza.

The WofA pavilion will house the Andeluna Winery, Antigal Winery & Estates, Benegas Winery, Cielo y Tierra Winery, Luigi Bosca Winery, Bianchi Winery, Salentein Winery, Staphyle Winery, Casarena, La Rural/Rutini Wines, Tittarelli Wines and Uco Valley Wines .

Among other wineries, it will also attend the Trapiche fair, which has been working steadily to promote this key market for the entire Asia-Pacific region, dominated by three countries: South Korea, Japan and China.

“It is the area where the group arrives with more high-end products: 25% of the turnover is in these markets,” says Gil Serra Arnau, Sales Manager for the Asia-Pacific Region of Grupo Peñaflor.

According to Serra Arnau, “in recent years, Argentina has had significant growth since China began to charge specific tariffs to Australia, and that allowed the entry of new products.”
