The Ministry of Transport participated in an international forum that took place in Leipzig, Germany, where it presented the balances and results of the High-Level Regional Dialogue on the sector for Latin America and the Caribbean, held at the Kirchner Cultural Center last month. .

The portfolio in charge of Diego Giuliano, was represented by the Secretary of Transportation Management, Jimena López, at the International Transport Forum (ITF) that took place from last Tuesday until today, and which was attended by ministers from more than from 60 countries and international businessmen to analyze experiences of the sector within the international community.

Among the activities, López’s presentation at the Open Ministerial Session “Promoting sustainable economies through ecological transport” was highlighted, in which he referred to the balances of the High-Level Regional Dialogue on Transport for Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Together, we lay the foundations that will make a fairer, more equitable and more productive future in transportation for the growth of Latin American and Caribbean people,” said the official.

He affirmed that the countries of the region share “enormous challenges in common”, and pointed out that “the representatives of the multilateral organizations let us know that the world will accompany us on the road to overcoming the barriers that hinder the development of our peoples. “.

Among other issues to be addressed, he mentioned the problems in access to cargo transportation and new technologies, and to advance in cross-border systems that allow efficiently overcoming the geographical barriers that the enormous territorial extension of the Latin American countries entails.

Likewise, he highlighted the advances in the construction of a Regional Logistics Plan, which manages to interconnect the countries through multimodal means, with low logistics costs that allow the economic and productive development of the entire region.

In addition to López, the deputy controller of the General Ports Administration (AGP), Tomás Vernet; the Director of Management Monitoring, Mariel Figueroa; and the director of Technical Transport Management, Francisco Sellarés.

The agenda of activities also included meetings with the Argentine ambassador in Berlin, Fernando Brun; with the ITF Council of Transport Ministers; with the head of Security and Mobility of the World Health Organization (WHO), Nhan Tran; with the Ministers of Transportation of Colombia, Camargo Triana, and of Brazil, Renan Filho; with the International Union of Railways (UIC); and with the ITF General Secretary, Young Tae Kim.
