Survey: Heating exchange: Two thirds fear being overwhelmed

Survey: Heating exchange: Two thirds fear being overwhelmed

Climate-friendly heating triggers financial worries among people. Citizens are correspondingly divided on the question of approval of the heating plans.

Two out of three people in Germany worry that the planned climate-friendly heating measures will overwhelm them financially. In a survey by Infratest Dimap for the ARD Germany trend, 67 percent said so.

28 percent do not have this fear. Citizens are divided when it comes to basic approval of the government’s heating plans: 49 percent believe that the traffic light coalition’s plan to ban climate-damaging heating systems in the foreseeable future is wrong. 45 percent think the plans are correct.

The draft law for the reform of the building energy law stipulates that from the beginning of 2024 every newly installed heating system should be operated with at least 65 percent green energy. The switch should be socially cushioned. There should also be transitional periods and hardship regulations. Details are hotly disputed. The FDP in particular wants improvements.
