Businesses are preparing new fines for misrepresenting product information

For businesses, it is proposed to introduce new penalties for misrepresenting information about goods. As Izvestiya was told in the Ministry of Finance, such a bill, with amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses, will be submitted to the State Duma in July this year. The department explained that we are talking about inaccurate, incomplete information or distortion of details in the National Goods Traceability System.

As specified in the ministry, liability will be introduced for legal entities – operators of electronic document management – for failure to submit invoices and universal transfer documents containing traceability details.

“Current legislation does not provide for such liability. According to the plan of legislative activities, the expected date for submitting the bill to the State Duma is July 2022,” the press service explained.

The amount of fines for the lack of documentation or the distortion of information in it was not named by the ministry to Izvestia. According to the version of the bill, which is at the disposal of Izvestia, it can be from 1 thousand rubles for each document.

Preparations for the launch of the national product traceability system, which began operating on July 1, 2021, started several years ago. Back in 2019, the EAEU member countries signed an agreement “On the mechanism for the traceability of goods imported into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union”. Its authors hoped that such a mechanism would rid the market of counterfeit products, and also force businesses to pay taxes, since each batch of purchases could be traced.
