VW extends its model range with an electric small car. In 2027 the entry -level current is to start. A first study now gives an outlook on the successor to the former VW Up.
Volkswagen presented a draft for a fully electric successor to the former small car up. In the Düsseldorf Congress Center, Europe’s largest car manufacturer showed the ID study. EVERY1, which ties on the UP set in 2023. The series version of the new entry model is expected to follow in 2027 and cost around 20,000 euros.
“The ID. Every1 is the last piece of the puzzle on our way to the broadest model selection in the volume segment,” said brand boss Thomas Schäfer. With the model below the ID.
Stylized radiator grille ensures combustion optics
With the small car, VW plans to build on the VW Up, which was set in 2023. At almost 3.9 meters, the study is almost 30 centimeters longer than its predecessor and, with a good 1.80 meters, 17 centimeters wider. In the design, however, he consciously took bonds on the small cars set in 2023, said chief designer Andreas Mindt – with a stylized radiator grille, which the brand has so far foregoing its electric cars.
In the interior, VW promises space conditions thanks to the electric architecture as in the larger polo. The electrical range is 250 kilometers, at 1,30 km / h, the 95 hp front -wheel drive is settled. The new software architecture from the partnership with the US manufacturer Rivian is used for the first time.
Cybersecurity fell victim to the predecessor
VW had let the small car up, which also existed as an electric car, expired in 2023 because the model no longer fulfilled new rules for cybersecurity. The electric version E-Up in particular was recently required. Due to too much demand, VW always had to close the order books at times.
