Patti Smith: Attack on nuclear facilities is unused

In July Patti Smith toured Germany. The American is concerned about her home country and criticizes President Trump sharply-among other things for his course in the Iran conflict.

The music legend Patti Smith criticized the course of US President Donald Trump in relation to Iran. When asked about what her greatest concerns about American society are, said the 78-year-old American: “My greatest concern is the war. The bombing of nuclear facilities is unused.”

In the interview of the “Stuttgarter Zeitung” and the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” (online edition), she explained: “I am worried about the civilian population because of the radiation.”

Smith: “Also what happens in Palestine is unacceptable”

Israel had attacked Iran on June 13 and bombed goals nationwide. On the Sunday a week ago, the United States joined the war and bombed the most important nuclear facilities in Iran. In the meantime, a ceasefire applies.

Smith continued: “Also what happens in Palestine is unacceptable and follows me every day. I also take care of our environment. Trump does not believe in climate change and does not take care of the protection of the country. In untouched nature, he only sees places to drill and build.”

On tour in July, new book in November

Smith, who became famous in 1975 with her debut album “Horses”, came to Germany for concerts in July. In autumn, the rock musician and author also releases a new book. “Bread of Angels. The history of my life” is scheduled to appear on November 6th, in Germany at Kiepenheuer & Witsch.

In the interview, she was also asked what her hope would do. Smith said: “I find hope in ourselves, in youth, in voters, in Greta Thunberg, in my daughter. I have hope in the new generations, but we do irreparable damage. It should not be the main task of future generations to remedy our mistakes, but to build on our good deeds.”
