Alejandro Bettinotti, author of a work that fuses tango, rock and urban poetry, died

He led groups like “Black Quarter” in the 80’s and “Monkey Lords” in the 1990s, a project that later led to the Bettinotti-Fernández duo, of a tango nature, during the 2000s.

In 2009 he produced the documentary “Guts of Asphalt”a deep look at the origin of tango and its current contrast with the new forms of the genre.

In 2013, he presented his first book “Tango adrift”which included a solo album with nine intimate songs performed with piano and voice.

Two years later, he released his tenth album “Riddles” and traveled to the interior of the country with the group Alejandro Bettinotti and Los Esquifuzos.

And in 2016, he premiered the documentary “Che, ¿vos qué sos? (An art journey on university lands)”, which was presented in the following years in Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Greece, closing the journey with a new documentary entitled “Gira University”.

With a tour of hundreds of national and foreign theaters, among his most recent presentations are the streaming of his penultimate album “Armas de la Paz” at the Picadero Theater and the premiere of his latest album “Traigo Noticias” at the Teatro del Balloon.

“It’s an album that brings together a handful of songs, more rock, more electric, and each song delves into a different universe, ‘I bring news’ of each of those universes, after having made a trip through each of those worlds” , the musician pointed out to Télam in those days.
