Extremism: charges against ex-AfD politicians | STERN.de

He is said to have called for a violent overthrow of the federal government. Stefan Räpple, a former member of the state parliament of the AfD in Baden-Württemberg, is now dealing with the judiciary.

The public prosecutor’s office in Koblenz has brought charges against the former member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament, Stefan Räpple.

She accuses the former AfD politician of calling for a violent overthrow of the federal government at a demonstration in Mainz against the corona policy of the federal and state governments in September 2020. Räpple did not want to comment on the allegations at the request of the German press agency.

In addition, on August 21, 2020, Räpple is said to have scorned the Federal Republic as an “arbitrary state” and “last filth” in a post on the Internet. On the same day, he is said to have advanced on the stairs of the Reichstag building together with other demonstrators in Berlin during a demonstration against the corona policy of the federal government and to have resisted police officers who tried to clear the staircase. The Mainz Regional Court must now decide whether to admit the indictment.

The accused was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament until the end of April. Initially, Räpple belonged to the AfD parliamentary group. In connection with the statements in Mainz, he was expelled from the parliamentary group of the AfD and retained his mandate as a non-attached member until the end of the legislative period.

Even before the demonstration, the politician had repeatedly made headlines with provocations. For example, in December 2018, after interfering with the police from the Stuttgart state parliament.
