Earlier this summer, Ball delivered a script to the studio that got executives excited about where the new story could take fans of the franchise. A casting process began shortly after that.
While the search continues for the lead human role, Teague wowed executives with his screen tests and was offered the role in recent weeks.

The original 1968 film Planet of the Apesbased on a novel by the French writer Pierre Boulle and starring charlton heston, centers on an astronaut who lands on a planet and discovers an advanced ape civilization that rules over early humans. In the latest and infamous twist, he learns that he is actually on Earth, which had suffered an apocalyptic nuclear war.
The film was a critical and commercial success upon release and spawned numerous sequels and a television series throughout the 1970s. In 2011, 20th Century would successfully renew the franchise with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, an origin story that chronicles how the primates took over. It featured groundbreaking motion capture technology and a masterful performance of Andy Serkis as Caesar, the leader of the apes.
The film was not only a smash hit at the box office, but also garnered some of the best reviews in franchise history, leading to a new set of films that concluded with War For the Planet of the Apes of 2017.
As for Teague, his big break came in the adaptation of Item of Stephen King, where he played one of the thugs terrorizing the losers club. I would continue with another adaptation of King with the limited series The Stand of Paramount+. Her upcoming credits include the thriller Netflix Reptile and the movie A24 Beth & Don.
