“Into the Spider-Verse” introduced fans to Miles, a teenager who is bitten by a spider and must learn to be a hero after the version of Spider-Man dies (chris pine) of his universe. In the process, he teams up with other versions of the iconic Marvel hero from parallel universes to save the world from the villainous Kingpin (liev schreiber). The film was highly praised for its animation, script, and voice acting, and won Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards.
In addition to Moore and Steinfeld, Isaac and Jake Johnson will reprise their roles from “Into the Spider-Verse” as Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, and Peter B. Parker. Rae will play Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, Daniel Kaluya is Hobart “Hobie” Brown aka Spider-Punk, Taccone is Vulture and Jason Schwarzmann is the Spot.
The film is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, from a screenplay by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. Miller, Lord, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Christina Steinberg are producing, while Peter Ramsay, one of the original film’s co-directors, is executive producing with Aditya Sood.
“Through the Spider-Verse” will be released in theaters in June 2023. Its sequel, “Beyond the Spider-Verse”is scheduled for a March 29, 2024 release. Additionally, a female-led spinoff film, centering on Gwen Stacy, Jessica Drew, and the character Cindy Moon, is currently in development.
