The accident took place on January 1 after Renner tried to help pull out a family member’s car that was stuck in the snow. The actor’s snowplow ended up running over him and seriously injuring him. Renner underwent two surgeries the next day after suffering blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. The actor’s snowplow was a PistenBully or Snow-Cat, extremely large snow removal equipment.
In a January 2 press release, Renner’s family said they “would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses who care for him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Washoe County Mayor of the Reno, Hillary Schieve, and Carano and Murdock families.
