Saving Private Ryan star Tom Sizemore dies aged 61

Tom Sizemore is dead. The actor was hospitalized almost two weeks ago with a brain aneurysm.

The sad assessment of the doctors has been confirmed: A few days after it was reported that there was no more hope for the actor Tom Sizemore (1961-2023), who was in a coma, the star of films such as “Saving Private Ryan”, “Heat ” and “The Relic” died. According to a statement by Sizemore’s manager, Charles Lago, life support machines were turned off on Friday (March 3).

The statement said: “It is with great sadness and sorrow that I must announce that actor Thomas Edward Sizemore (‘Tom Sizemore’) died peacefully today at the age of 61 in his sleep at St. Joseph’s Hospital Burbank.” Sizemore’s twin children, Jagger and Jayden, 17, and his brother Paul were by his side in those final moments.

“He was larger than life itself,” Sizemore’s brother quoted Variety as saying. “He impacted my life more than any other person I know. He was talented, loving, generous and endlessly entertaining with his humor and storytelling ability.”

There was no more hope

The Hollywood star has been in the California hospital since February 18 with a brain aneurysm. At the end of February, the doctors finally “informed his family that there was no more hope” and recommended life-ending measures.

Sizemore was found unconscious at his home in Los Angeles around 2 a.m. in mid-February, according to media reports. Apparently he collapsed after a stroke.

The actor became known alongside Tom Hanks (66) in the 1998 film “Saving Private Ryan”. He also appeared in “Heat”, “Pearl Harbor”, “Natural Born Killers” and the remake of “Twin Peaks”.
