The camera deputies and the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) signed this Thursday a agreement of cooperation that includes projection of the film “Argentina, 1985”recently nominated for the Oscars.

The film, directed by Santiago Miter and starring Ricardo Darín and Peter Lanzani, will be projected on the steps of the Congress he Saturday the 25th of this month at 8:00 p.m.

The president of the National Chamber of Deputies, Cecilia Moreau, and the acting vice president of the INCAA Presidency, Nicolás Batlle, signed the agreement with the aim of undertaking actions of mutual interest that concern the promotion of cinematographic activity and the highlighting of democratic values.

Through the agreement, both institutions created the cycle “Cinema and Democracy”to raise awareness and highlight the importance and historical, political and social significance of the democracy for the Nation and the Argentine people.

As a first measure, the projection of the film “Argentina, 1985” was programmed, within the framework of the different activities that have been carried out for the commemoration of the 40 years of democracy in the country.

In this sense, the head of the Chamber of Deputies pointed out that the film “is a necessary film because it gives a very important message for the new generations, which is to make the commitment to get involved politically, which is worth it.”

“This film tells our story so that the world will hear the message of ‘Never more’Moreau added.

For his part, Batlle maintained that “Besides being a great film, Argentina, 1985 is very important from the thematic and from the historical. At INCAA we want to guarantee that all Argentines have the opportunity to see it on the big screen, collectively, and that it serves to remember those dark years, vindicate Democracy and remember the Trial of the Juntas”.

The film, which narrates the vicissitudes of the prosecutor Julio Strassera and his collaborators to bring to trial the soldiers involved in state terrorism, competed last Sunday at the Oscars in the category of Best Foreign Language Film, but the statuette went to finally led “All Quiet at the Front”, of German origin.
