Hollywood star Ben Affleck has once again made it clear that he doesn’t blame his ex Jennifer Garner for his drinking problems.
Ben Affleck (50) clarified a few things. he spoke again about the shit storm he received in 2021. The actor was attacked by many people at the time for allegedly speaking about his first marriage to colleague Jennifer Garner (50).
“I had a very painful experience doing an interview where I was really vulnerable,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. What followed was that his statements were not only received incorrectly, in fact he wanted to say exactly the opposite.
“My behavior is entirely my responsibility”
Affleck had told radio host Howard Stern (69) in 2021, among other things, that he felt trapped in his marriage to Garner. That was one of the reasons he started drinking.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Affleck said he’s not trying to blame Garner for his drinking. “To be clear, my behavior is entirely my responsibility.” He added, “The point I wanted to make was sad. Everyone who’s been through a divorce has this calculus, ‘How much are we trying?’ We loved each other. We care about each other. We respect each other,” Affleck said in the new interview. “I’ve been trying to say, ‘Hey, look, I’ve been drinking too much, and the less happy you are, whether it’s your job or your marriage, and your life gets harder – when you’re doing things to fill a hole ‘ that aren’t healthy, you start doing more of those things.'”
Affleck added that he believes his quotes for clickbaiting “were misrepresented”. He continued, “It didn’t matter how many times I said, ‘I don’t mean it. I’m telling you, I don’t blame my ex-wife for my alcoholism.'”

In fact, Affleck had already explained his comments shortly after the interview with Howard Stern. On the show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” he adjusted his statements in December 2021. “I would never want my children to think that I would ever say a bad word about their mother,” said the Hollywood star to Jimmy Kimmel (55). Affleck has daughters Violet, 17, and Seraphina, 14, and son Samuel, 11, with Garner.
The actor couple was married from 2005 to 2018, they separated in 2015. Affleck has been treated several times for his alcohol addiction.
The 50-year-old married again last year: he entered into marriage with Jennifer Lopez (53). The two celebrities had reunited almost 20 years after their first engagement.
