The British monarchy stands for continuity and stability of the state. Many Germans admire that, especially with a view to German history in the first half of the 20th century, but also to the time when “Germany” was still a complex structure of small states. The long, uninterrupted history of the nation of Great Britain is indeed remarkable. The Queen has been the symbol of this continuity throughout her life.
