Royals: King consort Camilla mourns death of Paul O’Grady

Former drag artist and presenter Paul O’Grady is dead. Why the king’s wife Camilla mourns his death.

The British royal consort Camilla mourns the loss of the presenter and former drag artist Paul O’Grady. The Brit died on Tuesday at the age of 67. Shortly before the start of the state visit of Camilla and her husband King Charles III. On Wednesday, the Royal Family’s Twitter account read: “Deeply saddened to hear of the death of Paul O’Grady who has worked closely with Her Majesty in supporting (the shelter) Battersea (…).”

O’Grady provided a ton of laughs and many “tail-wagging memories,” the statement said. There was also a photo of Camilla and O’Grady with a small dog.

O’Grady rose to fame in Britain in the 1980s as drag queen Lily Savage. He later worked as a TV and radio presenter. Among other things, he hosted the documentary series “For the Love of Dogs”, which takes place at the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London. Camilla is the patron of the animal shelter and a self-confessed dog lover.
