Monarchy: procession at night: coronation rehearsals despite arrest

So that everything works out on Saturday, the coronation procession was rehearsed at night. Hundreds of soldiers walked or rode along the route between the palace and Westminster Abbey.

Despite the incident at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening, extensive rehearsals for the coronation procession took place on Wednesday night. A man threw objects – presumably shotgun shells – over the fence of the palace in the evening, but was quickly arrested. According to the police, he also had a knife and a suspicious bag with him, which was blown up as a precaution.

In the early hours of the morning, hundreds of soldiers marched or rode along the route between the palace and Westminster Abbey, on which King Charles III. and his wife Camilla will be celebrated by onlookers on Saturday. A number of horses, instruments and the two golden carriages were used in the rehearsal for the procession.

The die-hard Royal fans, who have already pitched their tents along the route and want to camp there until the weekend, were able to test their view of what was happening for the first time. Despite the night time, many relatives of the soldiers, journalists and other curious people came to watch the night spectacle and to get a first glimpse of the more than 260 year old and several tonne Golden State Coach, which arrived after 3 a.m passed Buckingham Palace.
