Barack Obama met Angela Merkel for dinner in Berlin. What else is the former US President planning to do in the capital?
Barack Obama (61) is visiting Berlin this week. After landing on Tuesday (May 2nd) at the capital’s BER airport, the former US President first went to Berlin’s Hotel Adlon, where he is staying, according to the “Bild” newspaper. In the afternoon, the 61-year-old met several young people whom he supports with his Obama Foundation.
In the evening there was dinner with an old friend: guarded by German and American security forces, Obama dined with ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel (68) and her husband Joachim Sauer (74) in an Italian restaurant in the Schöneberg district, as the newspaper further reports. At 10:30 p.m., the trio is said to have left the restaurant in a good mood. Obama will stay in Berlin until Thursday.
Obama appears with Klaas Heufer-Umlauf
On Wednesday evening (May 3rd) Barack Obama has a big public appearance in the Mercedes-Benz Arena. Moderator Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (39) will lead through the evening entitled “An Evening with President Barack Obama”. According to the organizers, Obama wants to send a “message of positive and sustainable change”.
Barack Obama has been in Europe for a few days and completed similar appointments in Zurich and Amsterdam. Heufer-Umlauf also moderated in Zurich and spoke to the ex-president about family and politics. Before that, Obama was privately in Barcelona, where he met director Steven Spielberg (76) and singer Bruce Springsteen (73) for dinner and attended a Springsteen concert with his wife Michelle (59).
