Children learn poems, husbands buy flowers: in Austria, the second Sunday in May traditionally belongs to mothers. The OÖ Nachrichten are celebrating Mother’s Day two days earlier, namely on Friday, May 12, with a column reading in the Promenaden Galerien in Linz. The event starts at 2:15 p.m. with coffee and Jindrak cakes. From 3 p.m. the four columnists Barbara Rohrhofer, Julia Evers, Anneliese Edlinger and Christine Haiden (see right) will read from their texts, which are regularly published in the OÖNachrichten.

By women and for women

But that’s not all: singer Jessie Ann de Angelo will combine well-known melodies with her South American temperament. “Songs that tell stories about women, have been composed by women or revolve around women,” the musician from Mexico prepared for the OÖN readers.

The Jindrak confectionery takes care of your physical well-being and serves sweet petits fours, and of course coffee will not be missing on the OÖN “Mother’s Day”. Enjoy two hours just for yourself, feel free to take your mother or your girlfriend with you.

Participation in this event of the OÖN-Frauenzeit series is free of charge, registration is not required.

  • Barbara Rohrhofer: “Unvarnished” she has been illuminating life for 25 years – with humor and without blinders. To be read every Monday.
  • Christine Haiden: Since 2008, the journalist and moderator has been highlighting special features in politics and society in “Haiden am Thursday”.
  • Julia Evers: Since 2012 she has been teasing the pitfalls of women’s and family life in her “mother tongue” with a smile.
  • Anneliese Edlinger: The editor, who has been reporting on Upper Austria’s politics for years, is now dedicating herself to “living in style” on Saturdays.
