Tom Cruise gives acceptance speech in fighter jet – and has a message for King Charles

Hollywood star Tom Cruise apparently loves it above the clouds: First he sent King Charles III. a greeting message from a jet plane, then he thanked him from the cockpit for the award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The film “Top Gun: Maverick” was nominated six times at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, but ultimately only received an award in one category: Tom Cruise received the award for best actor for his role as pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. And for his acceptance speech, the 60-year-old thought of something very special.

In a pre-recorded video message, Cruise radioed from a fighter jet – just like in the film. The actor thanked his fans, because the awards are given in an online vote by the audience. “I’m making these films for you. I love you. I love entertaining you. How much you enjoy it, how much you appreciate it,” said the Hollywood star. “There is no better feeling.” He had the award on board right away.

Cruise also used his spectacular appearance to promote his new film: From July he will be in cinemas with “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”, the seventh part of the “Mission Impossible” film series. For the “Top Gun” sequel, Cruise, like the rest of the film’s cast, had undergone rigorous flight training – just like he did 35 years ago when he appeared in the first film in the series.

Cruise uses these skills with relish: he not only reported from a jet plane at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, but also the day before at the concert for the coronation of Charles III. to the British king. In London, during the concert, a video was shown of Cruise addressing a few words to the monarch from an airplane.

“From pilot to pilot. Your Majesty, you can always mine wing man be,” he sent as a greeting – a reference to Charles III’s training in the British military, where he flew propeller and jet aircraft and helicopters as a pilot in the Royal Navy.
