International Museum Day is celebrated in the City of Buenos Aires

With exhibitions of textile art, paintings and photographs, guided tours of the permanent collections and happy hour of readings, International Museum Day will be commemorated next week, in museums in the City of Buenos Aires, where there will be free admission.

The activities will begin on Thursday 18 at the José Hernández Museum of Popular Art -Avenida del Libertador 2373- with the inauguration of the “XIX Salon of Textile Art” exhibition in small and medium format, where national and foreign artists participate. In this case, the works selected and awarded by the jury provide a wide and current sample of this artistic field.

On the other hand, at 6:00 p.m., there will also be a guided visit to the Garden of the Enrique Larreta Museum of Spanish Art -located at Juramento 2291- while on Saturday the 20th the activities will take place in the other museums. One of them will take place in the Larreta, with a new edition of the art and graphic production fair, “Motivo Impreso”, where from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., the public will be able to tour the ceramic, graphic art, and illustration stands and enjoy an afternoon in the museum together with illustrators and ceramicists.

That same day, at 5:00 p.m., there will be a “Reading Happy Hour” by Fer Blasco where he intends to rediscover the exercise of writing to transform it into a playful, liberating, and collective activity, while at 5:30 p.m. you can enjoy the activity “Entre Silvina”, a literary performance through the Andalusian garden, by Agustina Picasso and the artistic collective La Isla.

On the other hand, at the Saavedra Museum -Crisólogo Larralde 3609- at 5:00 p.m., visitors will be able to access “Restoring history”, a guided tour of the permanent rooms of the Museum, highlighting the role of the restorer and the importance of the work of heritage conservation.

In the Buenos Aires Museum -Defensa 187- a tour of the museum’s collection “Mujeres de todos los tiempos” is proposed, to meet the women who were and are fundamental to the history of the City of Buenos Aires.

The exhibition “Treasures of the Thrush” can be visited at the Carlos Gardel House Museum -Jean Jaures 735- to tour the life of the Criollo Thrush, through its most intimate and beloved possessions: objects, photos and documents that belonged to the artist.

Photography will also be present at the Museo del Cine -Agustín Caffarena 51- with the exhibition by artist photographer Sivul Wilenski, which includes a collection of portraits taken during the 1930s and 1940s; and the sculpture will be present, with the exhibition by Mariano Pagés, at the Perlotti Museum -Pujol 644- which covers a tour of its production in bronze and wood carvings between the years 1970-2004.

On Saturday 20, at the Larreta Museum there will be two special guided tours: at 4:00 p.m., a visit to the Goya exhibition, dedicated mainly to “Los Disparates”, with a selection of engravings made by the Spanish artist between 1816 and 1823; and at 5:00 p.m., the visit to the Museum’s collection, which consists of a tour of the permanent rooms where the manifestations of Spanish art from the Golden Age coexist, and also the former home of the writer and collector Enrique Larreta and his Andalusian garden.
