He is “PÜTZmunter” again. After a heart operation, “Hobbythek” presenter Jean Pütz is back.
Jean Pütz (86) underwent successful heart surgery. The moderator had to stay in the Bochum hospital for a total of eight days. “I couldn’t control my blood pressure anymore,” the science journalist told the newspaper, “that’s why I got a new heart valve and a pacemaker.”
Now the German-Luxembourger is back home. The stitches from the surgical scar were removed on Monday. “I’m PÜTZmunter again,” he joked. Pütz is now relaxing in his garden at Mettmann’s, where he breeds koi.
Great respect for the work of the doctors
Jean Pütz wants to encourage older people. “Don’t despair! Today’s medicine enables a happy life in old age without having to withdraw or become depressed,” said the former “Hobbythek” moderator: “I have great respect for the performance of doctors and the progress of medicine .”
Recovered from skin cancer just last year
Jean Pütz only had to undergo an operation in the summer of 2022. At that time, a conspicuous area was discovered on his forehead, which turned out to be skin cancer. It was a harmless variant, but the TV star had to have a 1.5 centimeter piece of skin removed. After the operation, he said he was cured.
He doesn’t care about the “roof damage” with the scar, the main thing is that he’s healthy. “I don’t need beauty in old age”,
Jean Pütz has already secured a tomb in Cologne’s Melaten Cemetery. But he doesn’t want to get them too soon: “I’ll be over 100 because I’m so curious.” His third child, daughter Julie-Josephine, was born just ten years ago.
Jean Pütz became known above all with the “hobby shop”. The man with the distinctive beard moderated the program for over 30 years until it was discontinued in 2004. Since the end of the “Hobbythek” Pütz has been touring Germany with the live show “Pützmunter”.
