Presenter Aline Abboud will no longer be seen on “Tagesthemen” for the time being. She is going to be a mother – but a replacement has already been arranged.
“Tagesthemen” presenter Aline Abboud is taking maternity leave. On Sunday evening, she said goodbye on the ARD program First that she was swapping the “Daily Topics” table with the changing table.
The journalist also posted a photo on Instagram that shows her in the editorial office with a bouquet of flowers. She wrote, among other things: “So dear people, I’m going to give birth to a child.”
Replacement already found
During Abboud’s maternity break, Julia-Niharika Sen and Helge Fuhst will represent the show’s main presenters, as Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) announced. Fuhst, second editor-in-chief of ARD-aktuell, has been moderating the show since 2020 and also heads the editorial team. Sen has been a “Tagesschau” spokeswoman for several years. She will continue to be visible there.
Sen was quoted by NDR as saying: “I think it’s great to soon be able to look more often at the exciting stories behind the current – often complicated and sometimes cumbersome – news. And I’m looking forward to discussing the topics we cover in the “Tagesschau “We can often only briefly outline, to go into more depth, to make it even more understandable and, where things get difficult, to follow up.”
The main presenters of “Tagesthemen” are Ingo Zamperoni and Jessy Wellmer (Caren Miosga’s successor). The “Tagesthemen” is one of the best-known news programs on German television, is produced by the public broadcaster ARD in Hamburg and shown on the community program Das Erste.
