For the first time in decades he wants to release a single – and then Billy Joel is also planning a really big appearance.
The US musician Billy Joel (74) will perform at this year’s Grammys. The organizers announced this on Thursday in Los Angeles. Joel had previously announced that he would release a single for the first time in decades at the beginning of February: “Turn the Lights Back On”.
In addition to Joel, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Burna Boy, Luke Combs and Travis Scott are scheduled to perform at the Grammy Gala on February 4th in Los Angeles, as previously announced. The award ceremony for the renowned music awards will be moderated by comedian Trevor Noah.
Singer-songwriter SZA has the most nominations for this year’s Grammys, going into the gala with nine chances of winning. Also nominated are Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Boygenius and Jon Batiste, among others.
The Grammys are being presented for the 66th time this year. Around 13,000 members of the Recording Academy decide on the winners of the Golden Gramophones, which are among the most coveted music prizes in the world and are awarded in 94 categories.
