Frank Zander: Food and gifts for the needy

For 27 years, Frank Zander has ensured that the homeless and needy are also thought of during the Christmas season – this year too.

Frank Zander (79) is campaigning again this year to ensure that homeless people in Berlin can also experience a bit of pre-Christmas magic: Together with Caritas, the police union and other celebrities, he distributes meals, clothes and sleeping bags to those in need.

“Christmas with Frank On Tour” is the name of this year’s campaign, in which Zander helps people without a home and other needy people from a food truck with stars such as GZSZ actor Wolfgang Bahro (61) or actress Katy Karrenbauer (58) and his son Marcus Zander . At the popular promotion on Monday, there was the classic Christmas menu to eat: ragout, red cabbage and dumplings. This year, the Malteser Aid Service is also there, providing a Corona vaccination offer.

Tradition for 27 years

For Zander, the pre-Christmas party with the needy has been a tradition for 27 years. Before the corona pandemic, Zander celebrated Christmas with the homeless at Hotel Estrel every year up to and including 2019. he explained on Monday that he knew what it felt like to live on little or nothing: “I grew up in Neukölln, it wasn’t high society.”

Zander is touring Berlin with his bus until Friday.
