For her 50th birthday, Barbara Schöneberger received a special suggestion from her colleague Thomas Gottschalk.
She has become an integral part of the German media landscape: Barbara Schöneberger is one of the country’s best-known entertainers as a presenter, podcaster and singer. She celebrates her 50th birthday on March 5th – and received very special congratulations that morning on her special day.
Will they soon take part in “Let’s Dance” together?
Because one of the first prominent well-wishers was her colleague Thomas Gottschalk (73), with whom she appeared together with Günther Jauch (67) on the RTL show “Because they don’t know what’s happening!” has been in front of the camera since 2018. He: “Barbara, at 50 you’re slowly getting to the right age.” He further wrote: “The tabloid press likes to accuse you of having an affair with Günther, but if we win ‘Let’s Dance’ together now, that will be over.” The power TV couple together in the popular RTL show? Gottschalk underlined his humorous idea with a picture that shows the two of them nestled together in a dancing position: “I’ll attach a photo from training and dance with you into the morning.”
Her TV career began in the 90s as Elmar Hörig’s assistant
Schöneberger looks back on a long career in the show industry. At the end of the 90s she attracted attention as Elmar Hörig’s (74) assistant in “Jack, Dame, Hörig”. The Munich native celebrated her breakthrough in 2001 with her first own show, “Blondes Gift”, in which she was able to show her entertainment qualities. She then became a sought-after presenter, who is also often booked for galas and award ceremonies outside of television.
Since January 2008 she has moderated the “NDR Talk Show” together with Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt (67). She has also been a fixture at the ESC for years. “For me, the Eurovision Song Contest is as much a part of the year as Christmas and Carnival,” she once emphasized. In 2014 she moderated her first preliminary round. She also regularly reads out the German points in the ESC finals. Schöneberger has also published music, a magazine and runs her “Barba Radio”.
As present as she is professionally, she likes to keep her private life to herself. She has been married to Maximilian von Schierstädt since 2009 and the couple has two children. However, they never appear together in public.
