US President Joe Biden would like to name Caroline Kennedy, the last living child of John F. Kennedy, as Ambassador to Australia.
The daughter of John F. Kennedy (1917-1963), Caroline Kennedy (64), is to head the American embassy in Australia.
US President Joe Biden (79) wants to nominate the daughter of the president who was murdered in 1963 for the post of ambassador to Australia. However, the Senate still has to approve this, which can take weeks or months.
The 64-year-old is the last living child of John F. Kennedy and Jacky Kennedy (1929-1994). As a young woman, she studied law, later worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and authored several books on American history, politics, and literature.
Appointed ambassador by Obama
It only followed the decades-long requests by the Democrats to get involved politically when Barack Obama (60) took office as US President in 2008. She even compared him to her father. He finally nominated her as ambassador to Japan in 2013. With the election of Donald Trump (75) as US President, she resigned from her post in 2017.
It wasn’t the only change Biden announced on Wednesday. Multiple world figure skating champion Michelle Kwan (41) is also set to become the US ambassador to Belize.
