The acclaimed director of Hereditary (2018), Midsommar (2019) and Beau Is Afraid (2023), made the casting of Eddington, his next feature film, official.
Ari Aster assembled a star-studded cast for his next movie, Eddington, whose production begins this week. Without a release date, it is rumored to come out in early 2025.

Joaquin Phoenix, Peter Pascal, Emma Stone and Austin Butler are among the artists who will star in the film that the renowned production company A24 will finance and produce. Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward and Clifton Collins Jr. They will also appear in the film.


Aster will direct eddington, a horror western, from his own script, that centers on a small-town sheriff in New Mexico with big aspirations. The two-time Oscar-nominated director of photography Darius Khondji will film the title that Aster and Lars Knudsen are producing through their company Square Peg.

A24 has released all three of Aster’s previous feature films, starting with Hereditary of 2018 and continuing with Midsommar of 2019 and Beau Is Afraid from last year. This will be the sixth collaboration between A24 and Square Peg.
A reunion with history
Eddington reunites Aster with Phoenix, who starred in Beau Is Afraid alongside Patti LuPone, Nathan Lane and Amy Ryan. Phoenix, who won an Oscar for 2019’s Joker, returns for the sequel Joker: Folie à Deuxwhich will hit theaters in October from Warner Bros.
Stone earned her second Academy Award over the weekend for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things of Yorgos Lanthimos. He also appeared with Nathan Fielder on the Showtime series, The Cursewhich aired its season finale earlier this year.
Pascal recently appeared in Drive Away Dolls and will return for the second season of The Last of Us from HBO. Butler is currently receiving praise for her role in Dune: Part Two of Denis Villeneuve alongside Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Josh Brolin.
