Harvey Weinstein is serving his sentence. A court has now made hints that the judgment may be overturned.
The Harvey Weinstein (69) case could possibly be completely rescheduled in court. an appeals court in New York City made serious charges against the then prosecutor’s office. In the trial in which Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison, she also admitted testimony from women who were not victims of the former film mogul at all. However, this may have had a negative impact on the jury.
The court indicated that it might overturn the judgment and, as a consequence, to order a new criminal trial. A final decision on this is expected in January. Weinstein was convicted in the spring of 2020.
The jury, led by Judge James Burke, came to the conclusion that Weinstein raped actress Jessica Mann in 2012. He also forced production worker Mimi Haleyi to have oral sex in 2006. Weinstein and his defense lawyers said the sexual encounters were consensual.

The former Hollywood producer is currently in custody in Los Angeles. There he is waiting for another sexual assault trial. Five other women accuse him of having raped or sexually abused them in California. He faces 140 more years imprisonment there. This process should start in the summer. A first attempt by his lawyers to avert the filing of the lawsuit at the last moment failed a few days ago.
