Television: Münster mix of “Tatort” and “Wilsberg”? Lansink would like it

The “Wilsberg” lead actor has suggested a crossover between the highly rated crime series from ARD and ZDF. The working title: “30 Years’ War”.

A crossover of the crime series “Wilsberg” (ZDF) and “Tatort” (ARD) on the streets of Münster would probably be a real ratings hit, according to TV detective Leonard Lansink. “We’ll broadcast part of the series on a Saturday at “Wilsberg” time with additional “Tatort” actors and the other part on Sunday with additional “Wilsberg” actors,” suggested the “Wilsberg” lead actor in an interview with the “Westfälische Nachrichten”. “We’ll call the first part “Thirty Years’ War” and the second part “Peace of Westphalia”.”

Lansink hopes that the ratings will be very high. However, the breakthrough idea is still missing. It would therefore be a challenge for any scriptwriter to fit the numerous strong characters of both formats into 90 minutes of broadcast time.

Lansink already has vague ideas

But Lansink already has an opening in mind for the crime story: Wilsberg is not only a snooper, but also a bookseller. Prof. Karl-Friedrich Boerne – the forensic pathologist from the Münster “Tatort” – bought the specialist book series “Fundamentals of Forensic Pathology”, volumes 1 to 10, from Wilsberg’s antiquarian bookshop more than 20 years ago. But to this day, no payment has been received for the money. Wilsberg, as always, is short of money, and is asking for a settlement.

Would Wilsberg even be able to deal with the narcissistic professor? Lansink says: “Wilsberg is more of a Thiel type, down to earth, not aloof. But he would deal with Boerne professionally.”

Crime dramas from Münster are television classics

Crime dramas from Münster have been popular with German TV audiences for many years. “Wilsberg” with Leonard Lansink as antiquarian and snooper Georg Wilsberg, Oliver Korittke as Ekkehardt “Ekki” Talkötter and Rita Russek as Inspector Anna Springer has been running on ZDF since 1995 and regularly reaches more than seven million viewers.

The Münster “Tatort” with the detective characters Thiel (Axel Prahl) and Boerne (Jan Josef Liefers) was launched in 2002 on Das Erste. Around twelve million people tune in again and again. No “Tatort” is more successful.

“I find the Münster ‘Tatort’ incredibly funny,” said Lansink. “The great actors are making fun of each other.” The “Westfälische Nachrichten” had asked Lansink to congratulate Jan Josef Liefers on his 60th birthday on August 8th.
