The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillofannounced this Monday the construction of 19 new schools in 11 municipalities of Buenos Aires and a bill to declare education compulsory from the age of 3. “There is no better way to celebrate the Teachers’ Day “We must continue along the path of transformation of the Buenos Aires educational system that we began in December 2019,” he said.

The provincial leader made these announcements in the Golden Room of the Government House where, together with the general director of Culture and Education, Alberto Sileoniled the signing of agreements for the construction of 19 new school buildings.
“In addition to the 230 school buildings we have already inaugurated, we will add another 19 establishments in 11 municipalities of Buenos Aires, while we also aim to consolidate the educational cycle from the age of 3 to exceed 80% coverage in 2024,” said the provincial leader.

The construction of the new school buildings will require an investment of $61.9 billion. In this regard, during the ceremony the agreement was signed by the mayors of General Rodriguez, Mauro Garcia; of San Vicente, Nicolas Mantegazza; of Pilar, Federico Achával; of Florencio Varela, Andres Watson; of Ezeiza, Gaston Granados; of Merlo, Gustavo Menendez; and of Lomas de Zamora, Federico Otermin. In addition, the municipalities of La Matanza, Presidente Peron, Moreno and Esteban Echeverria are included.
“In the province of Buenos Aires we are rebuilding public education with a historic investment in infrastructure, salary recovery and teacher training”explained the Governor, adding: “At the same time, we are working on a true transformation of the educational system, involving and listening to each of the community’s stakeholders.”
