Oscar winner Kate Winslet faced nasty comments about her character as a young actress. Now she describes how she was once able to confront a former bully.
Hollywood actress Kate Winslet (49) talks about a confrontation with a former bully who made fun of her appearance as a young film star. “I showed it to them,” said the Briton on the US show “60 Minutes.” “I said, ‘I hope this haunts you.'” That was “a great moment” because “it wasn’t just for me, but for all the people who experience this kind of harassment.”
The CBS broadcast showed an old television report about Winslet as a young actress after her breakthrough with “Titanic”, in which a commentator used nasty words to criticize her character. Winslet explained that something like that was “absolutely appalling” and she wondered what kind of people would do something like that to a young actress.
The Oscar winner has been vehemently campaigning against body shaming for years. Winslet was last seen in the cinema in the biopic “The Photographer” as war photographer Lee Miller.
