She is relieved after a “long struggle”.

Singer Paula Abdul sued a TV producer for sexual harassment. Now the legal dispute is over.

Paula Abdul (62) has apparently settled her lawsuit against British TV producer Nigel Lythgoe (75) for sexual harassment. In the lawsuit filed a year ago, the singer accused the 75-year-old of sexually harassing her twice. The first time was supposedly when they worked together on the talent show “American Idol.” According to the allegations, a second attack occurred in his home in 2014. Lythgoe had denied the allegations.

“Long and hard fight” for Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul said she was relieved that the legal battle was over. “I am grateful that this chapter has been successfully concluded and that I can now put it behind me.” It was “a long and hard personal battle,” said the Grammy and Emmy winner.

She went on to say, according to the BBC, that she hopes her experience “can serve as an inspiration to other women facing similar issues to overcome their own challenges with dignity and respect, so that they too can begin a new chapter in their lives.” . The terms of the settlement were not made public.

“Troubling time”

Following the agreement, Lythgoe said he was happy to “put this behind me”, according to the BBC. The television producer had previously denied the allegations, calling them “an appalling slander.” In his own statement, Lythgoe said: “We live in a troubling time where a person is now automatically presumed guilty until proven innocent, a process that can take years.” That’s why he’s happy that the matter is over. “I know the truth and that gives me great comfort.”

Paula Abdul was part of the jury in the first seasons of the talent show “American Idol” from 2002 to 2009, and Lythgoe was its executive producer. Abdul also worked with Nigel Lythgoe on “So You Think You Can Dance”. They were both part of the jury in 2015 and 2016.
