Federico Sturzenegger confirmed that around 36,000 public employees lost their jobs in the Milei era

The Minister of Deregulation and Transformation of the State, Federico Sturzeneggershared updated data on the reduction in public employment carried out by Javier Milei’s administration since he took office last December and showed that almost 36,000 state workers were laid off.

The national official announced through his X account that, between December 2023 and last November, some 35,936 public employees lost their jobs in the State, as part of the public spending cut policy that the government implemented in its first year.

The total number of public personnel laid off is made up of reductions in the centralized and decentralized Administration (21,408), State Companies (11,951) and Military and Security Personnel (2,577).

The publication of the data follows the statements of the general secretary of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar, who said “2025 has to be the year in which we steal the chainsaw and cut off their heads”, in reference to the members of the Government. by Milei.

Subsequently, he reaffirmed his statements through a controversial post on his social networks where he uploaded an image generated by artificial intelligence in which four state workers are represented, with ATE shirts and two chainsaws, ready to cut off the head of a lion, the animal with which libertarian leader identifies himself.

In said post, the union member maintained that “we are not going to tolerate new layoffs in the State!!” and stated that “the Government has to guarantee the continuity of employment of the 57,513 contracts that expire on December 31 and must end job insecurity in the State by signing the new contracts for a minimum period of one year.”

In that sense, he stressed that “next year stability has to once again be a right in public employment”, ensuring that “we have to ensure that salaries and pensions recover their purchasing power and prevent the State from continuing to be dismantled and auctioned off. the state patrimony”.

Furthermore, in the radio interview, Aguiar stated that “I don’t want Javier Milei to do well because if things go well for him, things go badly for all of us” and expressed that “this Government is not democratic. The level of authoritarianism is enormous”.
