ESC twelfth Isaak: “Raab doesn’t pick me up anymore”

Stefan Raab has declared the Eurovision Song Contest to be a “chef” – and wants to find a winner for Germany again. The German participant of the previous year sees the comeback critically.

The German last year’s participant in the Eurovision Song Contest, Isaak Guderian, sees Stefan Raab’s return to the music competition skeptical. “I don’t know why whether he has changed, the world has changed or I have changed, but Raab won’t pick me up,” said the singer from Espelkamp in East Westphalia of the “Rheinische Post”. The “new old way” of the entertainer no longer reaches him. “That’s why I’m also afraid that he could fail with the ESC.”

After a long break, Raab is responsible for an ESC preliminary decision again from Friday. With the format “Chefsick ESC 2025” (February 14th, 8:15 p.m., RTL/RTL+), the 58-year-old Germany wants to give a winner for the competition again after years of dry spell.

Raab and his team would not be on the lookout for songs in the application phase, but for people, said Guderian, who is known under his stage name Isaak. “I have the feeling that he wants to transfer a white canvas and his vision to it.” The comeback of the entertainer could either be a “huge success” or a “flop”.

Isaak: ESC was “physically and emotionally overwhelming”

The 30-year-old continued his twelfth place at the ESC 2024. Nevertheless, he connects mixed feelings with the ESC final. “I would do it the same way again, but it was not a sugar slack. But physically and emotionally overwhelming.” So far, he has no plans to appear around this year’s ESC preliminary decision.
