Melinda Gates: “No family wish a divorce”
In 2021, Melinda and Bill Gates divorced after almost 27 years. In January, Bill Gates described the divorce as “error”. How does his former wife think about it?
MultiMilliarche Melinda Gates commented on her divorce from Microsoft founder Bill Gates. “When I was divorced, I knew that I would get along alone. And I think that was the most important thing,” said the 60-year-old of the fashion magazine “Elle”. “Divoracies are painful, and that’s nothing I would like to wish for some family.”
When asked what she hopes to read about herself in five years, she said: “That she is doing well beyond divorce,” said Gates. “That she is just doing well.”
Bill Gates called divorce “error”
The computer scientist and economist was married to Microsoft founder Bill Gates (69) for around 27 years. In 2021 they divorced. Bill Gates described the divorce in January as “mistake”: “That was the mistake I regret the most,” he told the British “Times”.
Melinda Gates worked at Microsoft in the first decade and worked in the common Gates Foundation until early June 2024. Today she is particularly committed to the rights of women and girls. According to “Forbes”, their assets amount to around $ 11 billion (around EUR 10.3 billion).
