This also follows the logic of the last legislature. We rely on a broad portfolio of vaccines. We have to be prepared for all eventualities. The pandemic is not over yet. We will need these vaccines. However, we do not know which variants will confront us in the fall. What is still missing is a so-called bivalent vaccine. A vaccine that works for the Wuhan variant as well as for the Omicron variant . We reached an agreement today about this vaccine. It is being prepared by the Moderna company. And we will therefore provide another 830 million euros in the budget to be able to procure this vaccine as well. Then we would have Wuhan vaccine and an Omicron vaccine in the fall. Vaccine and bivalent vaccine from Moderna One lesson from the pandemic is that we never want to have too little vaccine again to have. We are therefore also preparing a vaccination campaign in order to be able to vaccinate the vaccine when it is needed in autumn at the latest. We would like to be able to offer a fourth vaccination to all those who need or want it, even then with the adapted vaccines. We cannot vaccinate overnight, but we want to be able to vaccinate as soon as possible. And for this reason, the vaccination centers will continue to be run and will be supported by the federal government with a maximum of 100 million euros per month.”
