Convicted murderer on trial for outdoor robbery in Wels

The 51-year-old is said to have briefed the 22-year-old and waited in the getaway car. He had to answer for incitement to aggravated robbery before the Wels Regional Court on Monday, the accomplice of aggravated robbery.

The now 23-year-old is said to have committed the robbery on the instructions and guidance of the 51-year-old freelancer. That’s how the younger man puts it and the public prosecutor’s office assumes that. The alleged perpetrator denies that. Both of the accused are not unknown to the judiciary: The younger one has six relevant previous convictions, the older one has ten entries in the criminal record, including for murder: In 2006 he beat an innkeeper from Lambach to death with a chair leg and had 20 years imprisonment for it .

According to the public prosecutor, the perpetrator who carried out the crime was masked on the evening of September 30 and went to the grocery store in Stadl-Paura with a gas pistol. He threatened the cashier with a gas gun and demanded money. He then forced the cashier’s supervisor to give him money from the safe. He then fled with a good 7,000 euros in loot. The 51-year-old is said to have been waiting outside in the car.

23-year-old pleaded guilty

The 23-year-old pleaded largely guilty. He described that he was friends with the day-releaser and that they did something together from time to time. On the day of the crime, he drove the other man to a gun shop, where he bought a gas pistol and a pack of 50 ammunition. Later they drove to the discount store. There the older one got him to commit the robbery. He also explained to him where the back exit was, which he should use as an escape route. “I’ve never been in there.” He didn’t dare to say “no” for fear of his acquaintance.

The former prisoner – his release has now been revoked – said his younger friend wanted to buy a gas pistol and he went with him. When they got to the grocery store, he stayed in the car. He claims he had nothing to do with the robbery.

During the course of the day, further questioning of the presumed criminal and witnesses were on the agenda. A verdict by the lay judges is expected to be pronounced on Monday. The two accused each face up to 15 years in prison.
